| Course 201: Retirement Planning |
This course provides a detailed look at how clients plan for retirement, how
they use their financial assets during retirement, and how they make financial
decisions related to retirement. Clients look to their Financial Planners to
provide expert guidance on the many issues involved in retirement planning.
This requires the planner to acquire the knowledge, judgement, and expertise to
understand the retirement planning process, the various private and government
pension arrangements, investment products for retirement, any income tax
implications, and numerous strategies.
The course begins with an overview of retirement planning with case studies
followed by a detailed look at pensions. It then examines the characteristics
of registered retirement savings plans to understand how they are used in
accumulating funds for retirement. It then explores the taxation of retirement
income and investment planning, along with tax planning opportunities that are
available.

| Course 202: Income Tax Planning |
This course provides a detailed look at how business and financial assets are
used to acquire and preserve wealth. Clients look to their Financial Planners
to provide expert guidance on the many issues involved in managing business and
investment assets. This requires the planner to acquire the knowledge,
judgement and expertise to understand the economic issues, business activities,
investment products, any income tax implications and numerous strategies.
The course examines how various business forms (including proprietorships,
partnerships and corporations) are structured and taxed and how they can be
used to generate wealth for the owner/manager or the passive investor. It
reviews the taxation of employment income and benefits with an emphasis on
looking for ways to increase an individual?s compensation without necessarily
increasing the individual?s taxable income.
This course also explores the taxation of investment income, including property
income, interest, dividends and capital gains. It also reviews the important
deductions available for various income sources. This is followed by a
discussion of how an individual can make use of the different tax advantages
available to maximize his or her wealth accumulation.

issues involved in risk management and estate planning. This requires the
planner to acquire the knowledge, judgement and expertise to understand the
risk management and estate planning processes, the various insurance products,
any income tax implications and numerous strategies.
This course provides a detailed look at the risk management process and the
insurance products that are available to manage risk. It looks at the risks of
disability, legal requirements of insurance policies, application of the risk
management process, death, property and liability losses.
The Strategic Investment Planning course also examines the estate planning
process and the many considerations and strategies involved in developing an
estate plan. It addresses the tools of estate planning including property
interests, family law, intestacy, probate, wills, powers of attorney, taxation
upon death, trust and estate freezes. It then examines special considerations
in estate planning such as non-traditional families or household units.

process. The evaluation component also helps prepare learners for the CFP?
examination.

CIFP on the WebTM Program Examination
This Proctored examination assists learners to prepare for the CFPTM examination
administered by the Financial Planners Standards Council.
This 4-hour examination exposes learners to the same types of questions,
time constraints and expectations as the CFPTM examination.
Upon successful completion of the 4-hour program examination,
graduates have satisfied the education requirement necessary for sitting
the 6-hour Certified Financial PlannerTM Examination administered by
the Financial Planners Standards Council.
